7 Steps To Achieving Joint Venture Projects

Joint Ventures are considered an essential part of growing your business and becoming successful.
However, many people looks at JV’s as a fearful or overwhelming idea. If you follow some steps and have some preparations together then you can move forward confidently.

First, before approaching anyone, do you have your business set up and do you know what you want to do a joint venture on. Many of the people that you approach may already be receiving several offers, so preparation is the key.

Then decide on who you want to have JV’s with. If you are not sure, you can do some research to help you find some potential people. The details on searching can be an article in its self, but to highlight you can:

Look at what your business is; what other businesses would complement yours. Then search the web for them. You can also ask around at forums and newsgroups and ask for referrals. Once you have done that carefully, pick a handful that you would like to try.

Look at their websites. Ask yourself, what is it about them that I like and why would I want to do business with them. What about their site stands out for me and that I could comment on.
Is there a report or course that I could try get to know them better. Is there a product that I can try? Is this even the right person for my JV? When you understand the other person, not only will it help you approach them, you will also be able to know if indeed you could recommend them to your list.

Then decide which of them you would want to work with. Now you can approach them. Think about what your goal is for the JV. Yes, there are the thousands of dollars it can bring, the free advertising and leveraging each other’s resources, but what is the ultimate goal for each JV.

What would your answer be when the potential JV partners says, "So, what do you have in mind?" Is this JV about writing and promoting a book, starting a contest, creating a product or sharing advertising costs, just to name a few.
While you are thinking about your answer, you need to realize that the potential JV partner is thinking, WIIFM. (What’s in it for me).

Why should he or she pick you over (or as well as) the other people that are also approaching them. Think about how this will help them. Do you have a large list, or contacts that they may want? Do you have stats to show how your plan will help them?

If they say no, and some will for many reasons, go on. They may already have too many things on the go right now. Ask if you can contact them in the future.

There are also different rules and viewpoints on the initial contact. I have heard some people say to phone, as they get so many emails that the call would stand out. Others have said, don’t presume to phone and interrupt them when you haven’t already met them. There is a combination of things that you could try. For example, send an email that you wish to call. Send a letter via the post office. I have even seen people send requests by an express service and have included a number of different trinkets, samples and attention getters. You may need to experiment, as each person is different.

Ultimately, I believe that you should show that you have taken the time to get to know them on some level and know what their products are. When people feel that you respect them and their product or service, this can go a lot farther than being seen as just a source of your revenue.

Ultimately, plan, prepare and then take action and you will find yourself not only attracting great JV partners but also making good friends along the way.

"I’ve always found it very important to do your homework first and then talk."– Irwin M. Jacobs, Qualcomm Inc. CEO

Working Smarter

this is an audio post - click to play

So often we are taught, as children growing up that you have to work hard to get anywhere in life and that if you want more you have to work even harder. That you need to exchange time for money.
Yet, if this recipe worked than there would be a lot more millionaires out there instead of stressed out people with high blood pressure and high rates of divorces.
I have heard many people say that they are working hard to provide for their families, which they consider one of their highest values in life. Yet, it's their families they sacrifice for the workload and hours. This conflict causes much of their stress and depressions.

There is a better way.

If you have ever read any of the "Rich Man Poor Man" books, you will have seen that the rich and the poor think differently. They rich understand the power and leverage of entrepreneurship and of multiple streams of income. They know the value of teams and masterminds and they know what is behind the saying "A poor man says I can't, and A rich man says how can I.

The entrepreneur understands that you can't do it all on your own and that you actually save money by having experts help you, which frees up your time to do what you do best.

We can't learn and do everything on our own and those that try, burn out quickly. The synergy of those on the same path working together, creates an environment that you wouldn't accomplish on your own.

Learn from those that have already been there. Let them show you where the mine-fields are. Instead of re inventing the wheel, tap into the wealth of knowledge and resources that can help you achieve your dreams and desires.

Great M’s of Success

this is an audio post - click to play

The Great M’s of Success
Mentoring, Masterminding & Marketing & Motivation

People who have studied successful people have found certain traits that accounted to their achievements. These success traits also kept them there even in times of depression, recession or other personal disasters.

I have heard it repeated over and over again, "Get Yourself a Mentor." Get help, advice and guidance by someone who has already been there and made it. A mentor can save you years to a lifetime of mistakes. You'll have a much greater ability to achieve your goals because you will have a blueprint to guide your way.

Surprisingly, many people if not most will go to a friend or relative for advice. People who have never succeeded and then these same people are surprised when they don't get very far.

Accomplished people also belonged to a Mastermind group.
They keep you motivated and accountable. The power or synergy of the mastermind group has shown over and over its ability to help people overcome any problems.

The third M is Marketing. No matter what your business is, if you don’t market yourself or business, you won’t get very far. You can’t expect to hide under a blanket in the corner and hope that someone finds you.

It is more than just advertising. It's understanding your target market and knowing how to promote the benefits. Without this knowledge, you will either not attract anyone to you or you can waste a lot of money with zero results.

Finally, the fourth is motivation. Motivation is the juice that keeps you going, that allows ideas to progress flow and perseveres when times are tuff. No matter how great your product or service is, if you don’t stay motivated, you probably won’t last through the hard times.

Grasp on the marvelous Ms and jumpstart your own goals dreams and desires.

Just What Is A USP

this is an audio post - click to play

It is your Unique Selling Position.

This is very important for your business to have. It is also part of your branding.
It delivers a message to your audience about who you are and why you are different from the rest.

It is not necessarily enough to be unique, you also want to be different and express the benefits

Jay Abraham says, or suggests that “not only should your USP convey that you offer a unique advantage over your competitors, but stated as such, that you are perceived as the only viable solution to your target market’s problem.”

To brainstorm your USP, write out all the reasons why you are different.
Then write it out in 20 words, then 10, then 15 and then 3 to 7 words.

Play with it; ask others what it means to them.

Remember that the words you use will attract the customers or leave them cold.
You may have to try one out and then modify it until it works. By changing the words you can have people rushing to your door for the same product, where you had no response before.

Once you have it use it.
On your website
On your sig file
On your blog
In your resource box.

Get people to relate it to you.
